Our “Sanctuary Market”

We are often asked, “How is the real estate market?” That’s always a loaded question since we all know, markets are local. The health (or lack thereof) of a real estate market is specific to that area and providing a broad overview doesn’t always apply.

The Hilton Head/Bluffton real estate market is a bit of a unicorn in that there are a number of factors that protect values and increase demand:

1.     Sub-Tropical Climate – There are many that enjoy the fact that we do have seasons and it is not hot year-round. Our Winter provides the opportunity to break out the long sleeves but in no way are you confined to the indoors so you can get out and enjoy!

2.     Beaches, Amenities & Activities – While many areas offer numerous amenities, we have it all... from beaches, golf, tennis, pickle ball and water sports to bike paths, the arts, shopping, festivals and events and so much more!

3.     Environmental Respect – Conservation and limiting billboards, restricting neon signs, protecting greenspace... all of the efforts enhance lifestyle by creating a nature-based environment.

4.     Proximity to Other World-Class Destinations – there is so much to experience within a short drive... from Savannah, GA, Charleston, SC, Beaufort, SC, Atlanta, GA and even Florida destinations, the options are endless!

When we talk about our specific market, we often use the term “Sanctuary Market”. In a nutshell, we are still seeing elevated migration from major metropolitan areas; folks that want to make a change due to weather, high taxes or whatever factor that causes general dissatisfaction. In this segment of Real Estate TV on WHHI, Daniel explains a little further and also provides an update on our Lowcountry Lifestyle Series.
